Local nonprofit selects netlogx’ young leader to serve as director for 2020 Leading Light Awards program that recognizes and celebrates women of achievement in STEM fields
INDIANAPOLIS, July 18, 2019— netlogx, a 21-year-old, Indianapolis-based consulting services firm, today announced that Lauryn Andrews, consultant, has been named Leading Light Awards director for Women & Hi Tech, a nonprofit dedicated to changing Indiana’s landscape of women represented in STEM careers. Andrews began her role on the board of directors for the organization on July 1, 2019.
“Serving on a nonprofit board to support and recognize young women has been a dream of mine since I discovered my passion for events in 2014,” said Andrews. “Working at netlogx and getting involved with Women & Hi Tech has enabled my passion to come to life while also serving the Indianapolis community. As the new Leading Light Awards director, I look forward to the opportunity to support current and future generations of women in STEM and celebrate their accomplishments,” Andrews added.
Founded 20 years ago, Women & Hi Tech understands the need to recognize influential women in STEM careers throughout Indiana. The nonprofit also provides scholarships to invest in the future of women studying in these fields. Members and sponsors of Women & Hi Tech work in many roles such as scientists, marketers, analysts and engineers in a wide array of industries like life sciences, accounting, engineering, IT and psychology.
Andrews joins her netlogx colleagues CEO Audrey Taylor, a past president and emeritus board member of Women & Hi Tech, and Outreach consultant Wendy Maple, a former Women & Hi Tech individual membership director and active emeritus board member, as part of the organization’s board of directors this year. The company encourages all employees, not just leadership, to empower one another and the surrounding community. netlogx continues to invest in activities and people that will help broaden the scope of women in STEM.
“I’m so excited that Lauryn Andrews, another netlogx co-worker, is going to help recognize the achievements of the ‘Who’s Who’ of Indiana’s female STEM-field leaders and the future generation of local women practitioners,” said Maple.
Awards and scholarships are presented during Women & Hi Tech’s bi-annual Leading Light Awards. This celebration dinner is a regularly sold-out event with an estimated 800 individuals and corporate sponsor representatives attending. This level of turnout speaks volumes about the Indianapolis community’s commitment to supporting the importance of acknowledging women who have excelled in their careers and who exemplify the broader impact of women in STEM. As the new Leading Light Awards director, it will be up to Lauryn to enhance this notable tradition.
