What brings you joy?
Spending quality time with friends and family brings me joy. Professionally, being able to work on a project that’s meaningful work and feel a sense of accomplishment brings me joy. Watching people I’ve worked with and mentor succeed also brings me joy.
What are you most afraid of?
I am most afraid of not being able to protect friends or family. Professionally, I am most afraid of being rendered as ineffective.
What would you like to learn?
I would like to learn where our society goes from here as of July 2020. After all the societal shifts from March 2020, I would like to learn what our new world looks like.
Who or what inspires you?
One person that inspires me is Edie Windsor. As the plaintiff of the Supreme Court case that granted same-sex marriage couples’ federal recognition, she inspires me as someone who is not afraid to live her life.
Sister Helen Prejean also inspires me through her advocacy against the use of the death penalty. Both women were able to shift society at an older age, which is inspiring.
If you could talk to your teenage self, what would you say?
If I could talk to my teenage self, I would say that life gets better and better. Despite setbacks, keep an open heart and mind for the people you’ll meet and the experiences you’ll have along the way.
What is your favorite book or movie and why?
My favorite author is Willa Cather, which I am currently re-reading her book, One of Ours. One of Ours won the Pulitzer Prize in 1923. The book’s themes include WWI, Spanish flu, and civil unrest of society, which I found timely to pick up and read again. One of Ours follows the story of a young man from a small town. It displays how small towns are not immune from life changing, world-wide events and the horrors of war and how it can shift family and community relationships.
What have you, or would you, write on the netlogx Before I Die wall?
I would write to travel throughout Europe and the Middle East on the netlogx Before I Die wall.
What does Project/Program Management mean to you?
Project/Program management means organizing and making order out of chaos.
What does wellness at netlogx mean to you?
Wellness at netlogx is true a work-life balance and a healthy, positive work culture. Within the first 39 days of my employment, I’ve had more work-life balance than in the past 20 years. netlogx’ culture is one of support and encouragement, which contributes to one’s overall wellness.
What is a fun fact about you?
A fun fact about myself is I have a profound love for Lake Superior. It is one of the most beautiful and scenic places. I am a boat nerd and love to watch huge ships dock in and out of the Duluth Harbor.
What is the most exciting thing you’ve ever done or place you’ve ever been?
The most exciting thing I’ve been a part of was standing on the steps, in D.C., when the supreme court case was decided for same sex marriage. It was not something I expected to see in my lifetime.
