What brings you joy?
Spending time with my wife Courtney and all of our animals. We have 12 chickens, 2 bunnies, and a dog. I enjoy getting outside and going on hikes.
What are you most afraid of?
I am afraid of spiders. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been okay with snakes and everything else, but spiders freak me out. I can’t continue on with the day knowing that it is in my house or on my desk.
What would you like to learn?
Continuing learning more about cyber security and how it impacts us on a daily basis. Identifying the different methods that are used now, but also methods that can be used in the future.
Who or what inspires you?
For me, that often comes from watching a documentary on someone who has achieved greatness or from literature watching a character go from a hard place to somewhere, achieving extraordinary things under non-ordinary experiences. I always find that inspiring.
If you could talk to your teenage self, what would you say?
I would say you literally cannot predict where you will be in five (5) to ten (10) years and the things you think you may be could be vastly different from what you turned out to be. That is not necessarily a bad thing, but it is something to not stress over and to be okay with the fact that not knowing is okay. At the end of the day, you follow your interests and life hands you things that you have not planned for. You are going to be okay.
What is your favorite book or movie and why?
The whole Harry Potter series. I grew up with them, as a kid I was essentially Harry Potter’s age. The idea that there is magic in the world and the stories we are told, the whole fantastical idea beyond what we muggles know.
What have you, or would you, write on the netlogx Before I Die wall?
Become fluent in a foreign language.
What does security management mean to you?
Ensuring that there are processes and policies in place that help to mitigate the risk associated with those type of attack vectors, the proper risk planning, and planning for the worst. Understanding the impact of events and the severity it would cause. How often could these things occur? What does that mean from a business standpoint and planning for that. Incorporating that as a business process in the corporation.
What does wellness at netlogx mean to you?
Eating healthy, getting enough exercise, mental health and making sure you take a walk to clear your head if you need to. Give yourself breaks to take a few deep breaths and realize that, often, the stressors are all in our heads. To remain mindful.
What is a fun fact about you?
I have a CD on iTunes that you can listen to. I recorded it in college, and it is still on there.
What is the most exciting thing you’ve ever done or place you’ve ever been?
My year in Prague teaching English. Living somewhere beautiful and preserved. They have these buildings that are beautiful that they don’t make anymore. This allowed me to travel and get outside of the American bubble.
