Now that I asked myself that question, I realize my bucket list has certainly evolved over the years. At 8-years-old, I wanted nothing more than to go to Disney World. At 15-years-old, I wanted to go to my very first music festival. When I was 20-years-old, I had my mind made up that I wanted to skydive. I was thrilled and excited at the thought of doing something so exhilarating, so I began asking around if someone wanted to join me! My problem was, nobody would. I wasn’t about to jump out of a plane alone (I’m too chicken for that). So, at that time, I let my dream of skydiving go, knowing full well that I would still try it in my future, even if that meant alone.
Fast forward 5 years later to today, and I finally achieved my bucket-list dream of skydiving. Believe it or not, I wasn’t alone either! I was surprised on my 25th birthday with tickets to skydive, including the photo/video package. I couldn’t believe the day was finally here. Or so I thought… We had to reschedule the jump a total of four separate times due to weather conditions (e.g., too windy, too rainy). With our busy schedules, we had to push it back four months. But we still prevailed! August 10th, 2019 is a day I will never forget, the day I literally jumped out of an airplane.
The feeling was indescribable, really. I couldn’t really believe it was happening at first. Then, my stomach sank to my butt and I felt like I was on a roller coaster going down the biggest hill I’d ever experienced. I screamed at the top of my lungs and was winded from the pressure of the air hitting my face, making my eyes water. I kept blinking to clear my blurred vision, as this was the chance of a lifetime. I felt like I was on top of the world (and I pretty much was). Meanwhile, the camera-man was maneuvering through the air like he was a bird! I was amazed at how easy he made it look. I gave it a try, to move around, and was struck by the force of gravity, the air still pushing on every inch of my body, making it more difficult to move than I expected. Before I knew it, it was time to pull the parachute, which left a couple bruises on my legs. Temporary “bucket list” scars if you ask me! As I began to lower closer and closer to the ground, I was out of breath, speechless at what I had just experienced. I truly couldn’t believe it. It went by so quickly, almost too quickly! But it was completely worth it. As I’ve said before, August 10th, 2019 is a day I will never forget.
