Kindness is not only one of the netlogx operating principles, but it is also our theme for this year. As a company, we have tried to keep KINDNESS at the forefront of everything that we do! We have sent several kindness postcards to team members throughout the year as gentle reminders, treated everybody to random appreciation lunches and sent out surprise self-care treats for International Self-Care Day. Wellness – physical, mental and emotional, continues to be an important part of our culture and firmly falls under the self-kindness umbrella. We have strived to highlight the importance of KINDNESS and wellness in all of our company-wide communications, whether that be part of our Caring and Causes communication initiative, Friday Feedback updates or the monthly netlogx Network newsletter!
We recently completed the latest netlogx book club in which we studied and discussed The War for Kindness by Jamil Zaki, facilitated by Lynn Zettler. It was a great learning experience and included company-wide challenges following each of the sessions – encouraging and inspiring each one of us to spread empathy and kindness every day however we can!
One of this year’s Kindness highlights for me was having Amber Maynard present at our September team building meeting, challenging us to cultivate inclusion and kindness in our day-to-day working lives. It was an incredibly powerful presentation which really resonated with our team members.
I am heading into a visit from a friend who now lives far away, and she has extended her work trip to a nearby city to spend a day with me beforehand. I have been fortunate to live in many places and have friends far and wide. My friends have been a great source of small kindnesses in my life – we show up for each other and that matters!
This month we celebrate World Kindness Week, and I am looking forward to spreading even more kindness as part of that. We often refer to netlogx as being a family – we spend more time with our work colleagues than our families and as such it is paramount to be aware of how we speak to each other and treat each other. Kindness is a non-negotiable, compulsory part of our culture, as is treating each other with respect – that’s why I am proud to be part of the netlogx team.
