Change can mean different things to different people. It can be scary, make us nervous and doubt ourselves, and present new challenges. However, change can also be exciting, help us stay confident and motivated, and open to new opportunities.

It reminds me of a plant seed. Sometimes, when we don’t know where to begin, we’re like a seed. It needs nutrients, sunlight, water, and oxygen to grow. This is similar to when we first start a new project, as there are many moving pieces and pre-work that must be done for the project to excel and grow.

Beginning as a seed leaves so much room for growth. Queue: the silver lining of change!

As workers/employees, we begin as a seed. We begin to sprout and find our place in the garden (our company or employer). Then, before you know it, flourishing, new flowers begin growing off our limbs as the right environment and conditions nurture us. Solid communication, trust, and reliability are a few essential items that everyone will need to flourish. With all the right conditions, you’ll eventually grow to become a tree with strong roots (a sustainable foundation). Now, you can help other seedlings grow in the garden (your company).

This metaphor portrays that even when we feel completely buried (just like that little seed) and when there doesn’t seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel, it is important to remember that growth takes time. Remember that a flower does not bloom over one night! It needs time and support. You may begin as a seed, but you’ll grow to be something so much more.

We are constantly evolving and learning in this thing called life!
