With the COVID-19 pandemic and the improvement of technology, we find ourselves home much more than usual. Although, being home is soothing to some, it can become dangerous, especially when you fall into (or out of) a routine. Your body and your mind can become sluggish.

Working remotely and rarely leaving your home results in a lack of movement and can lead to health issues, including anxiety, depression, and fatigue. It is vital that you get up and get moving to improve your quality of life. In addition to your body not moving, you can become less focused.

If you find that you don’t have the energy you normally have, are sad, or even anxious, try switching up your routine. I have listed some ideas to help you get out of that “funk.” You may not understand how some of these ideas can impact you, but you’ll be surprised how much your mindset can change.

  • Get up, shower, and get dressed just as you would if you were leaving for work
  • Make your bed
  • Find a daily inspirational quote and live by it…if only for the day
  • Multi-task (even when you are physically at work, you aren’t at your workstation 100% of the time)
  • Take a lunch – everyone needs to eat
  • Designate a workspace
  • Stand and walk in-place rather than sit
  • Read a book
  • Turn off devices after 8 pm
  • Make sure the lights are off at bedtime – lighting affects your sleep
  • Drink at least 80 oz of water daily
  • Let the sun in – vitamin D is good for you
  • Smile

Remember, even on the worst days, if you have a good outlook, it will positively affect you, your mood, your relationships, and your health! Positivity is key!
