In a world where we face various challenges, extending kindness is often underrated. Choosing kindness can be a superpower. Extending kindness gestures holds the power to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. Kindness has the incredible ability to lift others up, mend broken connections, and create a ripple effect of positivity.

In our increasingly digital age, genuine human connections have become more valuable than ever. Taking the time to show kindness can break down barriers, reduce loneliness, and create a support network that benefits everyone.

extend kindness

This year, I had an opportunity to volunteer at a school called The Genius School, which opened in the Fall of 2022. The school helps children whose learning was impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. This school offers learning in a unique and holistic learning environment with an innovative academic approach where they are committed to smaller and intimate classrooms. The Genius School believes in discovering the uniqueness and special genius within each child.

Before the Thanksgiving break, the school had a dinner to celebrate the children and their families. As I served, I got to watch the children interact with each other; they were very respectful and polite. Their smiles warmed my heart. You never know how extending your kindness can impact a person, even if you are just serving them a meal. Serving these families was a humbling experience to not take anything for granted.

I also went back as a server for the school Christmas toy giveaway. To see the appreciation on the parent’s face is what it is all about.

Christmas is always the time of giving and serving our families, but it brings more joy when you extend kindness to others in your community. Serving is my way to show kindness to others. I am glad I had an opportunity to share this moment to support families that needed it.

Our actions speak louder than our words, and when extending kindness, you never know it could inspire others to do the same. It costs nothing to show kindness, but the small acts of kindness can have a significant impact on someone’s day.
