Did you know that you hold the power to save lives?  In fact, your blood can save three lives.

This January, the American Red Cross celebrates National Blood Donor Month and recognizes the lifesaving contribution of blood and platelet donors. As we begin the New Year, the Red Cross encourages individuals to resolve to roll up a sleeve to give this month and throughout 2018.

netlogx Encourages Employee Participation

netlogx has been a longtime supporter of donating blood, as we have hosted several blood drives over the past few years on behalf of the Indiana Blood Center. This organization must see 550 individuals each day in order to meet the patient needs at the 60+ hospitals it supplies.

National Blood Donor Month has been observed since 1970 with the goal of increasing blood and platelet donations during the winter.  This time of the year is the most difficult to collect enough blood products to meet patient needs.  Inclement weather may cancel blood drives and seasonal illnesses like the flu may cause some donors to become temporarily unable to donate.

Critical Need

There is currently a critical need for O Negative and B Negative donors nationwide, but all blood types are needed to ensure a reliable supply for patients. Most people are eligible to donate. There are very few causes for deferral and only a handful of medications that would disqualify you if you take them.

Blood donations take less than an hour. To schedule an appointment or find a blood drive location near you, visit www.redcrossblood.org or call 1-800 RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).

The need is constant. The gratification is instant. Give blood.™
